FACTS:
1) I am a university student in my first year of studying Communications, Marketing, and Public Relations.
2) I am the second of three children (middle child, I know, explains so much…)
3) I have loved makeup and all things “pretty” ever since I can remember. I remember being just a handful of years old and playing with my mother’s lipsticks and eyeshadows in the bathroom. 🙂
4) My favorite food of all time is chocolate. ANYTHING chocolate. Chocolate ice cream, chocolate cake, chocolate-covered strawberries, chocolate milk, etc. My parents have this ongoing joke that I would eat dog treats covered in chocolate, but I think that’s pushing the envelope a little bit… Maybe…
5) I play acoustic guitar.

My Makeup Wish List: Top 5

A great man once said, “No one can ever have enough makeup.” Or maybe he didn’t, I don’t know… Either way, I am a firm believer in this statement, especially with so many amazing products out there to try. The following 5 items are products I have had my eye on for quite some time now:

1) The Sensual Skin Enhancer by Kevyn Aucoin: I have searched high and low for a foundation that is completely full-coverage, long-lasting, water-resistant, natural-looking, miracle-working, world-hunger-solving… You get the point. Needless to say, my expectations are (perhaps unrealistically) high, but based on the reviews I have heard about the SSE, I am hoping my search for a Holy Grail foundation is soon coming to an end.

2) Ben Nye Banana Powder: I realize I need to get with the times here and just buy this powder already since it seems every celebrity and their brother (okay maybe not) swears by this miraculous product. In case you haven’t heard the hype, this powder is known to set undereye makeup as well as provide a glowing yet natural highlight to the skin. Sign me up.

3) Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Palette: I absolutely LOVE my Naked2 Palette, and I absolutely LOVE matte eyeshadows for a natural yet glamorous everyday look. I have almost hit pan on “Tease” in my Naked2, so I figured why not just buy a whole palette of colors just like it? (This is a dangerous thought process, I know).

4) Mally Evercolor Poreless Face Defender: Okay, so this product has actually only been on my wish list for a few days now, but I was so intrigued that I immediately knew I wanted to try it. The Face Defender can be best described as a substitute for translucent powder, as it claims to lock in makeup and keep skin from looking greasy throughout the day. All the benefits of powder with none of the cake-face or mess? Yes, please.

5) Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Pomade: ABH is a leader in all things eyebrow, and today, who isn’t a sucker for a good clean arch? This brow pomade is said to be smudge-proof, waterproof, and just plain wonderful for achieving a natural or dramatic eyebrow that stays put all day.

A Makeup Must-Have: Model in a Bottle Original Setting Spray

I am a self-diagnosed makeup setting/finishing spray addict. That being said, I am always on the lookout for a new product to make my makeup last longer and look fresher throughout the day. While this product isn’t “new” by any means, I just recently picked it up and gave it a try after reading fabulous reviews, and I must say, it does live up to the hype. What is this miracle product, you ask? None other than Model in a Bottle Original Setting Spray.

There are a couple reasons I love this product so stinkin’ much. The first reason, and the main reason I purchased this product, is because it makes my makeup last for hours and hours and hours. I basically only wear long-wearing and/or transfer-resistant foundations as it is, but even the best can end up looking a bit stale by the end of a long day at work or school. I find that this spray gives my makeup that extra boost it needs to stay in place and look fresh no matter how long I’m wearing it. This is how serious this product is: one night I fell asleep with a full face of makeup on (including Model in a Bottle spray), and in the morning I woke up with perfectly intact foundation and eyeshadow that looked like I had just applied it. I’m not joking…

The other main reason why I think this product is so amazing is because it controls my oil and gives a natural-to-matte finish to whatever foundation I am wearing. The most irritating thing for me is when my oily skin breaks through my foundation and turns my forehead, nose, and chin into an oil slick, and if you have oily skin, you probably know just what I mean. I find that when I’m wearing this spray, my face stays fresh and balanced.

Model in a Bottle is very easy to apply, but I do have a quick tip that will make your experience with this spray a bit more, umm, comfortable… When you spray this, HOLD YOUR BREATH until the product has dried. What I mean by this is hold your breath until you think you can’t anymore, and then hold it a little bit longer after that. One of the first couple ingredients in this spray is some sort of alcohol, and while I’m sure the alcohol is an essential ingredient in the spray’s formulation, that doesn’t mean that it won’t burn like fire if you inhale it. Don’t ask me how I know.

Spring is in the Air

The weather, at least here in good ol’ Illinois, is beginning to creep up into the mid 60s, and with this newfound warmth comes an overwhelming need for me to switch up my wardrobe. A couple weeks ago, I hit my local mall and picked up a few items that I believe should be in your closets, too, this spring.

The third item I purchased was an all-black sleeveless knit dress. The last item I picked up from Forever 21 on this particular trip was, you guessed it, another dress– a nautical-striped shift dress, to be exact. After leaving the mall with my shopping bags full of ADORABLE dresses, I stopped by ROSS to see what kind of spring deals I could find there. I was a bit pressed for time so I didn’t really find much during this trip (BOO), but I did find a super cute black-and-white cropped muscle tee. I can’t wait to wear this with a pair of high-waist denim jeans or shorts! (Sorry I couldn’t find a link 😦 )

Overall, I would say this was a pretty successful afternoon shopping trip. Next, I can’t wait to pick up a few new spring accessories!
